And so comes September, when I remember…!: A poem

You know how we have a memory, even of superstitions, like

we believed the crow that came to pick at a sweetmeat

at my eldest sister’s wedding ceremony was that of an

acquiescing ancestor. Yet, how even memory blinkers in

the passage of age, and we seldom have reminders. Yet,

September comes, and it is a recall of my prematurity of birth

…that I was in my mother’s womb for merely six-and-a-half months.

I know now why my mother overprotected me so much, because

she felt the guilt that I could not suckle her (as I was not

full-formed at birth)! But I can say that brief cocoon womb

did not take me away from my mother, who I constantly love!

When in September, I also think of the end of July, when I

peered into a newborn’s face and saw in it the appearance

of my true love. Memory can be awakened like a thunder-struck

tower feels the full force of the elements. So how dedicated I feel to

mother and child?! For my mother. And me, her perennial child!

And the immense love I felt in the infant’s face that shone on me

the illumination of lifetimes coming calling again! At least, we have a

right to envision if we do not have a capacity to be visionary. I

have all through my silent life, had the ability to be both, though it

was an immense challenge. Yes, life brings about our predicaments,

but destiny brings us the gifts that seem like unresolvable challenges

that actually are unseen opportunities if we dare to dream! You know, what do

you think I think of the evils that threatened to waylay me all through eternity?

I think I need to resist that wickedness by my singular zeal to duty to sacrifice and duty to

love, never mind which powers win or lose. The misbegotten success of the contravening evil

is only its defeat if it (the evil)  happens to reflect on the shame and guilt associated with it!!
