Do you think you can borrow from simple innocence, of the times
before we even dreamed of mass or social media? Does
anyone think we have come deplorapbly far, and distanced
ourselves (in the bargain) from Mums and Dads working hard to keep their
establishments going (in vain); or further still, those of us, crofters, who
worked in small patches. I am just a linkboy to the past (am I a torchbearer
of capitalism, which I presume is a better beast in tethers, than socialism
and communism). Egalitarianism was never a preoccupation of humanity
till Marx and Engels (sorry, may be, a miscalculated and destructive French Revolution);
because, even in antiquity, humanity realised that that all men were not equal!
I am not wary of progress, and though I am not very fond of the concept of solipsism,
I believe in individuality being evocative of realisation. It depends really on what is your
prerogative – achievement or awarenss! I don’t know if I am intimidated by
AI, though I rarely use it, and hardly ever to embellish my creativity.
I believe there is an intense mechanism of destiny that is both blind like a
functionality and is redemptively all-seeing as well. I remember those old days when
there were not too many avenues to ejaculate one’s fantasy. In the seventies, large-waisted
Bollywood beauties were not exactly beautiful, but wore a pristine grace!
Later, we had more access to Hollywood, and later still, we had access to
porno. I can’t not confess that I made myself vulnerable, it is like
temptation is a sordid enemy to soulfulness in one’s youth. We are all Evelyns of sorts.
Can we blame anybody among the common folk for their susceptibility? So much progress comes with so much
degeneration. And you must be aware that our Mums and Dads were not liable to be made so impure
for want of (mis)opportunity! I am not going to feel hackneyed or clichéd if I decry
progress, but really(?), we do know that all empires meet their end from decrepitude,
that is the case that rewrites all our confidence in our abilities. So, could AI kill us?
Did the industrial revolution? AI, for all our scepticism about survival, may just be a
farrago, like all things manmade. Time is the dictum of evil as well as good. There is some
truth about determinism. We are, in our endeavours and choices, constrained
by a gravity, by a time, by a predicament; by natural calamities, by our own
highhandedness; if you think we can be footloose with AI or more, without it?! We
are liable to meet our end in other ways if not AI. We would be killed in other unsavoury
ways, if not AI! I lampoon all human progress as much as I value it as an enabler. But
my heart lies in value-based antiquity, not the over-opportunistic and ultra-capitalistic
overkill by greed of today. Do we measure everything by profit or by the sincerity of first cost?
Yet, I will not deny the fact that cruelty and self-seeking has always been the culture of
humanity (of those who pursued power all through history). And yes, psychopaths have always used
cruelty to gain that power over others! I think, ultimately, it is important to hold the mirror
to oneself in reflection and see with eyes that can delve into the profundity of spirituality.
There is a sesame seed of conscience in all of us, though, we must admit that there has to be
some anti-crescendo of destruction too, each time, to re- establish righteousness. War is
a cruel manifestation, but it is a cleanser as well, and also a mechanism by God, who really
means to tell you at the end of your suffering: `SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE!!!!”
Everybody is not equal in perception of that wisdom, as we just can’t figure out the bigger picture!
Or worse we just want to settle for comfort, smugness and convenience! We are all not equal in
foresight, fortitude, intellect, wisdom, experience, opportunity or inheritance. Or, we are differently
attributed in different areas. That is why we need inter-dependence. Yet, we may have some freedom
at least (I really can’t confirm it, though!); that we have a choice to pick the ones we want to
be on the same rock with for eternity; individual prerogative not democratic referendum, please!
