I just feel like risin’ risin’: A poem

I just feel like I am risin’, risin’

over and above the darkening horizon

Yes, I am tired of all this waitin’, waitin’

Part of me is always gratin’, gratin’

I often feel like doomsday

Yet, I keep my fears at bay

Am I wrong to cast aspersions,

when I gave up all my aspirations (for you)?

This is a kind of a joke

that has occluded all the truth I spoke

Do I believe that the Fool gets Paradise,

in spite of all the envious, consuming eyes?

I haven’t stopped licking my wounds

Tell that to all those criminal, treacherous goons

Is justice the same as vengeance?

Is that why I stick to the unending dance?

You know how tiring it can get

Where did I place my last bet?

Is there virtuosity in cheating the lie,

make them think I’m settling for a tie?

I feel old, can I hold (on)

Being bold is suffering untold!

How would you know if the cat would mew

for just the righteous few?

And the dog would feel as tender as dew

where this evil-rampant world would dissipate, with a new in lieu?!
