Little cuddles…my darling pooch: A poem

You take a spritely leap into my arms, like you always did(!);

if memory can cause me  such serendipity as the reality of

when I first set my eyes on you, you little furry ball of happiness!

What is the peculiarity of love in its sudden delight!

How do you love a fondling, a child that is not yours

but of another animal, and, yet, so exclusively yours, that

your definition of such rapturous love is not comparable

by an entire lexicon but summarised in one playful `woof’!

I can tell your life was shorter, but it mattered a great deal

to the beauty of my existence. Like a pulsebeat forever throbbing

amid my preoccupations! Love is that simple unostentatious pastime!

Creature love resembles the love of God, the creator.

Can we understand your love in its simplicity (or complexity)

of emotion? I have learnt to realise that the love of a pet

is replete with spiritual insignia, if you have eyes to perceive

that the entry of a pet in your life is a cantilever to canticles

of accidental Solomonic wisdom. You realise that love can be profounder

in its speechless unconditionality. This love I hold as forever mine!
