The Phantom of the Opera is here!: A poem

Yes, the descent into the caverns of candour

when faced with the starkness of love and truth;

I am here still with my mask and with all the candles blazing!

Hear my voice through the music, stealthily it

falls on everyone’s lips, even of the fools who seek to manipulate it!

I am no floating flotsam on the tide of the river, if you think you

can clear the sun, the planets, the stars of their eventuality;

and realise there is only the beginning everywhere!

That we have travelled the distance so far from each other…

So far from the truth; but the ghost was always besides you…

and them, even those who thought they could extinguish him,

his flame! No matter what you all do, the mendacious masquerade will

only go to vindicate his truth that lies in the closets of mystic haze

till you all can see for yourselves, even if you think that all the  treachery

can frustrate him into a desperate surrender. The endgame, the treachery

so ferociously wants him to fall to, becomes his means to an end, not his abdication!

You can hear that spirit, as it turns, and turns over again, to destroy himself,

to turn his own music into a nightmare for himself, but echoing his commitment;

because the grand opera is not in finding untimely makeshift solutions though

featuring them unabatedly; but that he should be brave in being his own

nemesis to rise up again like a fallen cascade, a Phoenix, that pecks

at his own breasts to feed his fledglings; that you should realise

that your fear is not only out of fear for him, but also innate and

unawares loathing for all your own corruption! Do you know

you can all be damned if his spirit dissipates in the extremity of the

hypocritical subterfuge that you all pursue? I can swear there is no belonging in the longing

you have for the evil! Its legitimacy is only valid until you choose to see –

that the Phantom’s voice is the loudest and clearest above the din of noisome

conspirators who falter before his grandmastery; and his soul is in the humbly overwhelming

lyrics that you wish not to sing, but are unwillingly lip-syncing the way he prefers them to be!

Every time the villains sign you all up to the compromise, he is the macabre

voice that shakes all you wearisome colluders of treachery to the tireless justified abrogation!

The Phantom of the Opera is here…He is in all your minds!!!!
