These little lines in honour of you are
a mere blink of ink in comparison to the great
spirit of dignity of you! For, you were like a flame
that burnt – but didn’t burn to chastise; and emblazoned
to lend the nurture of warmth; like the sun, so full of fire
but so apparently cool and forbearingly guardian!
This was no parched desert of defunct lack of imagination,
but an ingenuity in duty of care! In fact, you were the force d’etre
for all who depended on you! So often we say: Love is Magic!
But you epitomised the dictum that Duty for Love is Magic!
And you demonstrated that deeds not exhibited in verbiage,
but simply silently undertaken are akin to God’s own miracles!
You know Mother, I credit you with representing those that
never decry the thanklessness of their tasks; they, resonate
the real soul of God! Not your preachers, nor your saints!
There is a masquerade of goodness in this world, and there is a
back seated silence of righteousness, vindicated by a resoluteness of duty!
You mirrored the righteousness and the duty. Childhood is never discerning
of the sacrifice of parenthood, until the child discovers the sacrifice, itself,
in time! Mother, is there a more wonderful wisdom than the silent,
generous, patient, selflessness you exemplified? How children learn best
when they are led by example and not explicit tutoring?!!
Mother, though I feel intransigent at your loss, I should actually
realise your conscious presence in your absence. That, all the ethics I
uphold in my armoury of integrity, are your legacy; And that I owe it all to you
with the sincerest gratitude!
